People often ask me why do you practice personal injury law. Don’t a lot of people define you as an “ambulance chaser”?
It certainly is true that many people look down upon personal injury attorneys as simply opportunists who want to take advantage of a person in a bad situation. However, ask any of my past and present clients what they think, and I believe they will all tell you that without my representation or my firm’s representation, they would not have had a chance.
People do not realize that the law of personal injury and wrongful death is extremely complicated and full of legal pitfalls and technicalities. There is nothing straight forward about any personal injury case. Each case is different based upon the facts and circumstances. many factors come into play when representing injured clients, and a full knowledge of all the possible ramifications that could occur in any one case is absolutely important.
I must say that it is an extremely rewarding experience once a case has been pursued to completion and the client is grateful for the result. I certainly cannot guarantee that all of our results are 100% satisfactory to the client. We sometimes lose, but we are more often successful in obtaining a favorable result for our client. A successful outcome is also very rewarding when one realizes that you are up against high powered and well funded insurance carriers and corporations that can outspend you 10 to 1. Therefore, one needs the knowledge of the law, as well as an aggressive attitude in order to overcome such obstacles.
I have practiced personal injury law for over 30 years. During that time I have learned a great deal about the law, how to succeed and how to obtain a successful outcome for an injured client.
The philosophy of our law firm is clear, in that we have built a firm dedicated to personalized and family-oriented principles, in which the client will always be represented by an attorney that they can talk to, meet with and feel comfortable with. The key to any successful attorney/client relationship is trust. We feel we have earned the trust of thousands of our clients whom we have represented over the years.
If you are looking for a conglomerate firm with hundreds of lawyers, you probably will not want to consult with Legler & Flynn. However, if you are interested in speaking with an attorney one on one, as well as a community oriented organization that has been around the Manatee/Sarasota area for over 20 years, then you may want to speak with one of our attorneys.

What is Personal Injury? When someone is physically or emotionally injured. The laws covering personal injury allow the injured party to receive compensation for damages caused by someone else’s carelessness, negligence, recklessness, or intentional actions. Personal injury laws place demands on its citizens not to harm others. This means that not only should people be safe from harm, but their possessions should be safe from harm too. If you are injured you may be eligible for compensation for your injuries.
Liability can caused by intentional acts or by negligence.
- An intentional act is one designed to cause harm or injury. The person committing the act wants to harm you
- A negligent act occurs when someone fails to take appropriate action and you are harmed as a result of that failure.
Another form of personal injury law covers strict liability (product liability)
- The product may be defective because of an error in the manufacturing process
- Consumers are not warned of possible bad effects from the use of the product.
- The product has design flaw that makes it dangerous.
In most personal injury cases, the victim must have suffered some sort of physical, mental, and/or financial harm to have a claim for damages.
If you believe your personal injury was caused by the carelessness or intentional act of another, and you live in Southern California, you may want to contact Mason Rashtian to discuss your possible case.
You should call as soon as it is convenient to do so and avoid discussing personal injuries with strangers and/or insurance representative who are not from your own insurance company. However, you should be cooperative with the police, your own treating physicians and your own insurance company.

Adam Hepburn grew up in a hard-working blue-collar family near the foothills in Los Angeles County. His father, an owner of an electrical contracting business, and his mother, a registered nurse, instilled in him early the importance of working hard and helping others in the community. Adam watched his father and mother become pillars in the community by donating their time and resources to local schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations. Inspired by his family and other leaders in his community, Adam pursued a life of public service.
While attending one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, U.C. Berkeley, Adam immediately began helping the community by working with a California State Senator. Adam interfaced directly with local constituents by assisting the Senator’s office at public policy debates and community forums. Adam’s legislative experience peaked his interest in the law and he soon began working at the state courthouse in Oakland, California. After graduating U.C. Berkeley, Adam received a full tuition merit scholarship to law school in San Diego, California, where his legal career took off.
Law school is where Adam first learned how to become a premiere trial attorney. Adam ranked amongst the top of his class and often obtained the highest grade in his challenging law school courses. After becoming part of the school’s selective and highly competitive Law Review, Adam competed in trial competitions and soon gained the recognition of his peers as a talented litigator. After winning a Distinguished Advocate award for his skilled advocacy, Adam earned his place on the school’s highly decorated Trial Advocacy Team and won many awards and trial competitions across the nation. Due to his trial skills and impressive scholastic abilities, Adam was hand-picked to work with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps in San Diego to help defend military members facing serious criminal charges. Adam also worked with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office where he litigated multiple jury trials with immense success even before he was admitted to the State Bar. Equipped with the skills to take on any adversary in court, Adam left law school and continued to pursue his passion of fighting for others by accepting a job with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office.
Early in Adam’s practice, he distinguished himself as a highly skilled and talented trial attorney. He litigated many trials against both the District Attorney’s Office and City Attorney’s Office with amazing results. Adam enjoyed many not guilty verdicts and many case dismissals throughout his career, recognized by his peers and the court as skilled litigator. Wanting to develop his trial skills even further, Adam was hand selected and accepted into one of the most highly regarded trial skills programs in the world, The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, located in Dubois, Wyoming. Adam continued to perfect his skills as a trial attorney and met fellow trial attorneys throughout the country who fought against insurance companies that were trying to take advantage of good, vulnerable people. Inspired by his fellow trial attorneys and the justice they were fighting for across the country, Adam decided to dedicate himself to fighting against powerful and rich insurance companies taking advantage of people.
Adam strives to always give back to his community. Adam serves on the Board of Directors for The San Diego Freedom Ranch, a non-profit residential treatment program operating in San Diego for over 40 years. Adam also gives back to his law school by serving as a trial coach at California Western School of Law, where he teaches law students trial skills and trial techniques. Adam also serves as a mentor to underprivileged youth through other non-profit organizations in San Diego. Jesse Gonzalez, was born on July 11th, 1968 in McAllen, the city he calls home. However, life led him to Minnesota at a young age where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of constant determination. Jesse worked in the Land of 10,000 Lakes for 17 years as a migrant worker to help his family make ends meet.
After completing his high school education, Jesse enrolled in the University of Texas – Pan American and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduation, Jesse put his education to work at La Joya ISD where he taught until 1997.
The Will to Do More
Jesse took the injustices and hardships he witnessed as an underprivileged child in Minnesota to heart and never forgot them. These experiences sparked the will to do more and he subsequently pursued a doctor of jurisprudence degree. His desire to learn the origins of English common law led him to Europe, where he took the opportunity to study at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and Oxford University in Oxford, England.
Jesse’s hard work paid off when he began to intern under Federal Judge Prado in San Antonio during his second year in law school. In 2000, Jesse earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s School of Law.
Providing Relentless Representation
After completing his studies, Jesse returned to the Rio Grande Valley to make McAllen the home of the J. Gonzalez Injury Attorneys. Jerrod Warr is the workers’ compensation guru at FWI.
He was first drawn to the legal field after serving as a member of the Idaho State University Debate Team. During that time, he traveled across the country
to multiple tournaments and won awards for his research and persuasive skills as a member of the team. The comradery, competition, and success he experienced behind the podium propelled him into law school at Michigan State University. At MSU, he was accepted to be part of a small group of students to work at the Indigenous Law & Policy Center, one of only a few programs like it in the country. That program focused on strengthening tribal sovereignty for members; while engaged in that work, he realized he wanted to represent individuals in need.
Jerrod has years of experience working on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases in well-known Colorado law firms. Prior to opening FWI, he created the workers’ compensation department at The Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya, LLC and successfully ran the department for approximately 5 years, resolving countless matters for injured workers.
Helping people has been his main focus throughout his career; he enjoys working with the clients and earning positive results in settlements and court decisions where they have been injured on the job. He empathizes with his clients who have been injured and are experiencing difficulty working and earning wages. The complexity of the workers’ compensation system can be overwhelming and he knows how to maneuver it and relieve stress and worry from his clients.
Jerrod is an active member of the Colorado Workers’ Compensation Education Association, which keeps him cutting-edge on all workers’ compensation rules and case strategy. In 2017 and 2018, Jerrod was selected as one of the “10 Best” workers’ compensation attorneys by the American Institute of Legal Counsel.
In 2018, Jerrod was chosen as one of Colorado’s top 40 litigation attorneys under 40 by The American Society of Legal Advocates and by The National Trial Lawyers.
When he’s not busy representing injured individuals, you can find him around the town with his wife Emilie and their two sons. He also finds time to play intramural sports, snowboard, play an array of board games, and cycle. He’s an avid sports spectator, always cheering on the Buffalo Bills, MSU Spartans, Washington Nationals, Detroit Red Wings, and the Denver Nuggets. He loves the creative process as well, having written and published the books titled The Legendary Tribune 1 & 2 and designed and created the board game The Bermuda Crisis. Make sure he shows you a magic trick also, since he’s been a performing magician since his youth. If you enjoy speaking French, feel free to start a conversation with this Eagle Scout. He is a partner at FWI, and focuses his practice on Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury claims in Colorado. If you’ve been injured on the job, contact Jerrod and his team today.
